Pakistan Squad for 2023 New Zealand Series: Best PAK vs NZ T20I & ODI & Squad Updates

Pakistan will host New Zealand in a tri-venue five-match T20I and five-match ODIs starting on April 14. Here is the New Zealand vs Pakistan squad for the two series.

New Zealand pulled out of the Pakistan tour just before the start of the first ODI in 2021, citing security concerns. Instead, they will play additional games on this tour. This team is visiting Pakistan for the second time in five months to play in Pakistan. They played two Tests in December and January last year, which ended 0-0, followed by a three-match ODI series in which New Zealand won 2-1.

Pakistan have named full strength squads for both the ODI and the T20I series. The regular Pakistan team captain Babar Azam is also joining the team along with the very popular Pakistani bowling attack bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi. Other senior players like Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman and Haris Rauf are also back after being rested for the recently concluded three-match T20I series against Afghanistan.

New Zealand, meanwhile, have been forced to field a very depleted squad, with most of their first-choice players busy in the IPL. Tom Latham, who last played a T20I in 2021, will return to lead them in both formats.

New Zealand will build on the experience they gained in their ODI series win in Pakistan earlier this year, bolstered by the investment of Pakistan head coach Saqlain Mushtaq two months ago. Saklain joined the New Zealand camp as an assistant coach.
